Christie’s New York auction fetches US$ 20 million
Christie’s New York auction christened Magnificent Jewels & the Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller realised US$ 20,027,625. The New York Magnificent Jewels auction featured an exciting selection of signed jewels, coloured gemstones and important colourless and fancy coloured diamonds.
Leading the sale is an impressive diamond fringe necklace, a 15.36 carat heart-shaped D color diamond pendant necklace and a superb 20.47 carat old mine brilliant-cut, Flawless D colour diamond ring (US$2,652,500).
The June sale also offered significant signed jewellery from the Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller that realised US$ 3,119,500. The sale also included an exceptional Burmese ruby ring by Tiffany & Co., given by Irving Berlin to his wife Ellin for their 40th wedding anniversary. Also highlighted are several other notable private collections including property from the collection of Steve and Peggy Fossett, the estate of Ruth S. Stanton and property formerly from the collection of Mrs. Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
