As a result, this up-and-coming family business turned into India’s largest precious cargo logistics player. In the process, the second generation Chinai pioneered a number of path-breaking innovations in finance, operations, infrastructure and various other systems in the Indian logistics industry of valuable cargo. Humble beginnings, revolutionary growth

If you ask to put BVC’s growth story in a nutshell, it can be safely said that it is a sheer example of an astute business person identifying opportunities amidst challenges and then, a visionary tranforming it into an enviable empire. “The diamond and jewellery trade in India was an unorganised sector at that time. This caused a hindrance in opening the Indian diamond and jewellery industry to a global level. There was a strong need for streamlining this business. That is exactly what BVC set out to do – create an organised diamond and jewellery sector which can be opened up to international markets,” shared Uday Chinai, Chairman and Managing Director, BVC Group of Companies.

At present, BVC boasts of a network of 45 agents globally that enables it to offer services to almost 130 countries. Within India alone, BVC operates acrossover 3,000 pin codes. But the picture was not all that rosy right at the onset.

“BVC had a humble beginning with limited resources. We had started with a single office in Mumbai. But now, we have a strong domesticas well as and global presence and handle logistics for more than 50 per cent of the Indian gems and jewellery industry. With that, BVC has become one of India’s largest logistics providers when it comes to diamond and jewellery,” he proudly filled in.

The winning strategy

It’s a no mean feat to lead the pack for decades while at the same time, expand like nobody’s business across the mainstream markets such as Belgium, Japan, Thailand, UAE, Russia and the USA. So, what’s the secret behind their success? “We, at BVC, believe in going beyond business and building long-term relationships. In an industry which works on trust, BVC has thrived on strong business bonds andproven track records. Customer delight has been the constant aim for the people at BVC. When customers choose to do business with BVC, it is the only ecosystem they need to exist in, in terms of logistics. They will find soup-to-nuts solutions hereunder one roof and need not go anywhere else.” revealed Bhavik Chinai.
